My 72 C10 - First Project/Build

Hey everyone.....I picked up this 72 C10 about a year ago and haven't really had the money or time to do anything to it, but hopfully that'll change very soon. I've got alot of plans for it, but I have no expierence in restoring anything, so I'm going to be reading alot around here and asking alot of questions.

The guy I bought it off of said it originally had a 400 in it, but it threw a rod so he through in a 327 that he had laying around. I want to swap the motor and trans to something different and I'm trying to decide what I want to put back in it. I'm thinking a 350 with a 700r or a LS2. Can't figure out what I want to do, and if can do it myself or not.

What are some thoughts?

Man, that is one slick lookin' ride already. Are you keeping the color? Can't go wrong with grey! Interested to see the responses as I am starting my first build here soon as well. Good luck!

It looks grey in the pictures, but it's actually kind of a goldish color. I like the color, but the bodywork and the paint job isn't that great. The truck looks good heading down the road, but up close you can tell there are alot of little things that I need to address.

Ok...I've decided to go with a 350 and a 700r4 tranny. As I ask around and look on Craigslist, are there any particular motor tranny combos that I should be specifically looking for that would make the swap easier?

Hey lukin.... to the boards from Cornelius, NC....great looking truck buddy....

I'm gonna be different here....go with that LS motor...either the 5.3 or 6.0....everybody's doing it

Just kidding....put it together like you want it....you'll get thousands of our ideas, but in the end you got put up with it and love it

I say keep it a rolling restoration unless you got all the money, time and patience to strip her down and start all over....that way you can enjoy it while you get it like you want it....

I like the 350/ 700R4 combo idea...especially if it's gonna be a cruiser....might have to rebuild that 700R if you want a ground thumping high HP engine.....I'm not very well versed in that stuff, but be sure to visit the engine/ drivetrain forum here and ask away...be careful though...there's a section in there for LSx swaps that might just make you change your mind again
