Need help quick, Paint gun problem

so i went to start painting my truck a few hours ago, and i was spaying an old hood to get my pattern and spray adjusted right. I had it just about right when the paint started leaking out of the tip, and now it wont stop inless i tighten down the adjustment skrew all the way. I cleaned it all up and its still doing it. I can get the pattern right, but when i stop spraying it just leaks paint everywhere. Ive checked the air pressure and its not that. I dont know what to do now, and i have a gallon of primer already mixed with the reducer.
Thanks for any help guys!

I thought of that, but wouldnt it leak out more if the paint was thinner? Thats the only reason i didnt try it. I mixed it in a measuring bucket too. 4-1 mix.

you have some crap in the gun, pull the adjuster out and the tip and clean it good.

Sounds lke there is some trash around the needle seat. Take the gun apart and clean it really good especially in the trigger part. The needle valve.
Is it a siphon fed gun or gravity feed??? either way there is something not letting a valve shut off completely

Re: Need help quick, Paint gun problem

1. Trash in needle seat (I agree) 2. Are all the air holes open in the inside and outside tip?. 3. Little hole in top of cup open? Welding wire works great to clear all the holes.. IF the paint bubbles in the cup, or leaks, take it apart, clean it again and spray about 1/3rd of a cup of thinner through it. Usually works for me... ONE more. Did you strain your paint????

Re: Need help quick, Paint gun problem

what pressure are you putting thru it?
should only be about 30-40 psi depending on the paint, gun, distance from surface

heres some pointers

Re: Need help quick, Paint gun problem

This is why I try to tell you guys to get a Binks 2001.On the cheaper guns they use this packing around the needles that make your gun stick on.I spray with my gun about once a weak ( laq.) and just keep the 2 qrt. with some thinner in it. THATS IT.Rinse the tip and spray

The can will say 2-3 hr. pot life. More like 20-30 hrs if you put some thinner in it. DP90?
