Frame clean up...will this come back to bite me?

Hello,

So I'm pretty new to the forum and I can usually find what I'm looking for when using the search so I haven't had a need to ask any questions yet but I'm sure this will be the first of many. I'm in the process of cleaning my frame and I'm taking it down to metal and and will be using VHT chassis paint. So I just want to know if I'm being to anal when getting all the little bits around rivets and other tight spots when taking it down to the metal? If I don't get every nook and cranny will it bite me down the road with rust issues? first time posting pics so hopefully they show up. Let me know your thoughts. I don't mind doing the work to get it totally clean but if I don't have to then I can move along a little faster. Thanks for any input.

Unless its greasy, oily, or a loose rivit I wouldnt worry about it. Your not goin to get paint between the mount and the frame, so I ont think there will be an issue... in your lifetime anyway.
I didnt even clean my chassis other than pressure washing. But I used rustoleum and it sticks to rust better than clean steel. Doesnt VHT mean Very High Temp?
I thought that was just for headers, and had to be heated to cure.??

I would have had the frame sand blasted, cost about $150
Shops here will sand blast and powder coat the frame around $500

Thanks for the info...The VHT is normally a high heat paint but the roll bar and chassis paint is just for this kind of application I believe. I tested it on one of the crossmembers and it seems to hold up pretty good.

Yep, I really thought I wanted to do it by hand and say *I DID THIS ALL BY MYSELF* And now I'm to deep into it to turn back. Never again though.

You should be able to clean up those late few spots with a wire wheel on a small 4 1/2" grinder.

Yep, The 4 1/2" grinder has been my main tool with a 18 volt drill for some of the tighter spots. just wasn't sure if it was necessary to hit all of it or if it was overkill. I've been doing just that as far as getting the smaller spots so far but its been a tedious process.
