New from N.Texas

Just wanted to say Hello to everyone here Names Sonny.
Ill begin by telling you a few things about myself. Ive been in Law Enforcement for about 13 years now.And have always wanted a C10 swb or Lwb it didnt matter, Ive been after this truck from a family member for 10 years or so. I have finally gotten a chance to get it as it just sits in the yard since he is not able to drive it anymore. 1971 Custom/10 LWB, 3 on the Tree,350,Truck has been converted to disc on the rear/Aftermarket springs.

Of course it has its standard wear and tear rocker panels, cab corners and just overall surface rust..Truck has been repainted and the SPID is missing from the glove box so im outta luck on what all options the truck came with...I do know that is was a sort of blue before it was painted white. Truck also has factory A/C and heater both work well except for the valve you have to close or open under the hood to get which ever one you want to run.Seems someone unhooked the a/c heater controls on the inside...Truck runs very good and is mechanically sound.

I def do not want to do a swb conversion,I would like to keep this truck close to original as possible except for a static drop and get a inbed tool chest instead of the one it has.

(Is this the birthdate of the engine H274..I was told this was original engine? If not would like to know what model i have etc? I can get more pics of the numbers just couldnt find the one on the front side of the eng

I have no idea what that is. Anyone?

Inside the cab

Cab 2

Emblem

Engine Bay

Rocker Panel both seem to have foam in them.

Right Door

This is the casting 3970010 it also has a 21 Gm to the left, I havent figured out what that code 21 is for.

Re: New from N.Texas

Welcome from Kansas. Your engine block casting #3970010 points to either a 1968 327cid 2-bolt main cap engine, or a 1969-79 350cid out of a car truck or vette with 180-370 hp. As far as the date code that would break down to August 27 of 1974. Looks like might have been swapped in the past. You will have to look at the stamping pad for more info. It is located on the front top of the deck on the pass. side, just below the cylinder head. Good luck with the truck! Joseph

Re: New from N.Texas

Thanks for the warm welcome...I look forward to being here for a very long time...Im gonna be picking and prodding posts and folks brains here for ideas and help in the near future...

Yeah Sanford66 it seems to be a 350 that was added later bummer. No worries as it is still a good block.Just need to find out what the hp rating was and if its a 2 or 4 bolt main..Ill be getting the head casting numbers and the front eng number behind the alt in a few days...Im still not sure what that thing is on the block by the heads kinds looks like a Transformers symbol lol, any ideas on that???....And any info on the 21 Gm number beside the block casting number as i have not found any info any where for it...
Thanks in advance for any help it is much appreciated

Re: New from N.Texas

Yes I fell in love with it 10 years ago. But it couldnt be had then..From there it sat until a few weeks ago when i asked if he would sell it..And to my surprise Im able to aquire it for a very decent price as you can tell if you look close on the sides of the truck someone has rattle canned it in places..Overall it just sat and begin to rust and rot..Im hoping i can fix that and not let it get ruined like ive seen so many others......

Re: New from N.Texas

Sonny, i'm not sure about the humps on the back of the block or the 21 number. If you can get the suffix code off of the stamping pad on the front of the block that would give you the best info. By the way the engine you have has 2-bolt main caps. Joseph
