TH350 trans. changed fuild, filter, pan gasket. now shudders.

changed the trans filter and pan gasket. new fluid.

right after starting, it will shudder if I shift into D or R and move the truck slowly...

if I let it warm up, it seems fine, thought it does seem to have harder transitions between gears.

I checked the fluid, and it's not low.

thoughts?

Did you check the fluid when it was hot? And do you have the correct dip stick?

yes, checked when hot. it's the original dipstick.

hmmm. my kickdown cable isn't attached. it's been disconnected for as long as I've had the truck.... carb was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago.

vac lines look okay. has new brake booster and MC too...

Possible loose filter screws or missing or out of position filter gasket, I have overhauled several of these that customers diagnosed themselves and this was the problem.

This might make me sound stupid, but did you check the level with the truck running?

Yep. I'm gonna try and check all the vac lines again too. Just seems weird that my braking seems involved..

Put it into all the gears with the motor running. P R N D 2 1. Let it sit for a moment in each gear with your foot on the brake, then check the fluid level again.
