Turn 5.3 into 383?
I have an 03 Z71 with a 5.3 i also have an early vortec 5.7 block. My question is, could i build up a 383 short block out if the 5.7 block and swap it in place of the 5.3 block while leaving everything else the same?

Nope. Nothing interchanges. The 5.3 is a much better engine and capable of making as much or more power than a 383 would. The ls bottom end is a lot more sturdy than the gen 1 stuff as well.
