1972 C10 Cab and Fender swap question

Hey guys - I am tired of the way my 72 C10 front end looks. The passenger fenders don't line up all and door is just not right. In addition to that, cab has major rust and repair would not be easy. So, sorry if this has been covered a ton but I found a 1971 C10 LWB in town that I want to buy and swap the cab and entire front clip on. Can I remove some bolts and get a front end loader to lift off the cab and entire front end in one piece? Has anyone done this?

When swapping the cab, can the current vin, registration and plates for the old cab still be used? Thanks

never herd of that being done before, not saying it cant but i think you would run the risk of the fender mounts getting bent up, i'd pull the front clip first.

Agreeing with above, pull the clip off first and then the cab. As for cab, either save the vin off the old cab for certain purposes or make sure the 71 has a title, depending on the states rules you may have to keep the old vin so it matches the frame.

Fellas - thanks a ton for the advice. Pulling the front clip first is definitely the way to go. I will let y'all know if I can make a deal. Thanks, Neil

Re: 1972 C10 Cab and Fender swap question

I have moved a few cabs around and this is what works best for me. Get a large engine hoist and put the boom on the cab roof as close as you can get it to the windshield. Plywood will keep the roof from denting.
hope this helps
