700r4 Speedo Gears Help
I figured there was no sense trying to figure this out if some one already knows.
I want to know what speedo gears to run in my truck with the 700r4, 3.73 gears and 275/6015 t/a" which are about 28"in listed diameter. If anyone can help me out, it would be great. GM part numbers would be doubly great. I do not know the gears from the "donor" vehicle. Thanks...Peter |

I ordered mine from Bowtie Overdrives for $44.00. I told them my tire size and rear gears, and they sent me the speedo gear. I can count the teeth on mine and/ or identify the color for a reference, since it sounds like it might be the one you need. I have 3.73s and 27.82 tire dia.

Thanks Billogna.
It would be great if you could do that for us. Just post the info back here when you get it. Thanks. Peter |

I have a 700R4, 3:73 gears and 255/70R15 tires that stand 28" tall and I went to the Chevy dealer and ordered new parts with their help and came up with good results. I'm reading 34 mph when checked with radar at 35 mph. I have GM part numbers for the driven gear and the sleeve that holds it. The drive gear, I only have the number of teeth, which you can easily purchase from the dealer. The drive gear has 15 teeth. The driven gear has 40 teeth and the GM part number is 1362048. The sleeve, you need to go with the driven gear, GM part number is 25512339. The sleeve was under $40.00 and the driven gear was less than $4.00. The drive gear should be less than $5.00 also. Hope this helps.
A good man/woman behind the parts counter means alot!

I just got mine in...beforehand, I did some math, and it gave me the combination Gordo has...I have 275/60-15 tires, which should also be 28" tall...but mine's a bit off (shows 45 at 50, and 75 at about 83) and besides, that's the last thing I'm worrying about for now since it's close. Still gotta figure out what's causing smoke when I lean on it for any amount of time...not to mention I gotta get it to lock the torque converter...
