Re: hooking

Well high heels, short skirt, wait wrong hooking sorry.

First start with a good set of slicks, or if need be, a ET Street, or QT Pro. That is the most important thing to start with. Even if your peg legging it, very important to have item if your going to drag race.

Re: hooking

well i do own some slicks but i havent ran them on the truck yet.i just not to long put the motor in the truck,im kind of still working the bugs out of it.everyone i talk to tells me that its to much motor for the truck.to put it in a car.but i keep telling them about you guys on here with your trucks.i talk to dj race awhile back in phox city drag strip and he told me to go with some coil over shocks, and that will help me out alot..he tell me that he had a buddy that had some that he wanted to sell, but he never got back to me.i relly want to prove these guys around here wrong about theses trucks.so guys please help meout....I know i dont have those big moster motors like you guys do.but right now i want a little show and go truck.i want it to be so clean and sharp, that i person wouldnt think i will race it.but it will be the frist thing there on race day.then again my wife will like to drive it from time to time

Re: hooking

Next best thing for a dual purpose tire would be M/T Drag Radials, but they'll wear fast. Other then that move all the weight that you can to the back, fuel cell, battery mount them under the bed if you want to use the back. Like DJ said an adjustable coilover for the back, drag shocks in the front. Pretty much same as a car set up for drag racing, just alot harder to get the weight of the nose. And tell your buddies there's no such thing as too much power for a truck!

Re: hooking

I agree , no such thing as to much power .Your motor combo sounds good . Weight transfer is key to making a truck hook up . What gear does the truck have ? Is it posi track ? Does it spin ? What do your 60' times look like ?The first 2 things make a big differece,as does tire chioce . The beuty of having a truck is you can load the bed with a jack and a pair of slicks and change them @ the track .

Re: hooking

You just need the shocks and shock mounts DJ talked to you about . You have the weight transfer built in with the trailing arm setup . Drag race suspensions ie: a 4 link go by the instant center (this is the point where the upper and lower bars would intersect if they were long enough to come to a point) The trailing arm is just as good as any drag setup it just has to be refined a little . Read DJ's thread end to end and You should be able to figure it out . Or take your truck to DJ and and have him do it for you ....lol He needs to fund the new killer motor !

Re: hooking

I was joking about him doing it , I dont know if he would want to take on outside work like that . If you know anyone capable to help you it shouldn't be to hard to setup . No offense DJ.

Re: hooking

You would do away with your stock springs . Thats what a coilover shock does . ( I'ts a spring and a shock all together ) . I believe there are plenty of pics on the thread of DJ's about the 67 Dragtruck.

Re: hooking

I have a set of drag radials for 150.00 with 12 passes on them. I could get you a deal on a set of shocks installed and a locker style posi if you don't have one.

Re: hooking

I would take 200 for the locker style posi. I will have to call to get you a price on the shocks. Would you want them installed?

Re: hooking

you can leave the front or now.

If you don't have to have the truck real low you can keep the stock bed floor.

Re: hooking

If you do some searches, you can find some posts where I talk about stored energy and adjustable rear control arm brackets. IMO you don't need a coil over set up to make these truck work.

Re: hooking

347ci LS1. Most those passes in the video are on the motor. I didn't make a good clean N20 pass as I need to tighten up the front end. Should move pretty good on the 300 hit.
