4000$

I would buy a performance crate motor with that much money, dont know how much it would be to get the kinda power you want, but that way you would know what you were getting and would get a warranty. Also Vortec head conversion is a cheap way to get really good performance, but i would not do it on a worn motor. while your at it why not get your tranny rebuilt if it needs it, (or if it might or has any annoying leaks) while you have the engine out? I think that Jimmy is awesome, mine was originally hugger and some moron went and painted the outside GREEN, but left the inside orange, so it looks like a MIAMI mascot. Any way, good luck. HJ

With that kind of disposable cash, no question LS1. You would definately have one of the fastest trucks on the board then. (and crazy reliability to boot) Sell the old small block for bolt on power adders. Low 13's high 12's can be in you future with 20+ mpg and about 200 lbs less weight on the front end as well. Can you tell what direction I'm going? Should of never got rid of my '99 vette

Boardrider,

Are you talking about rebuilding, or just bolt on performance? With 4K, you could do a really nice rebuild; probably a 383, get close to 500hp. If you already have a good motor, maybe some newer type vortec heads, or even some aftermarket heads that flow real good.

Aftermarket heads, or a huffer! New inner fenders, aluminium 4 core, crome the brake booster, dual electric fans.
Or just do what southpa said, just be sure to invite us!

Don't forget to save some $$ for Uncle Sam. Be a shame to be forced to sell because you forgot the tax man! Hopefully the 4K is after tax money.:p

Why don't you put that as a down payment for a 572?
