Help...tilt column i.d. - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I purchased this tilt from a guy who said it was for a 72 Chevy pu. After looking at it, I'm not sure. Can anyone help? Does anyone have the dimensions (length of the column). Any information to help I.d. this would be helpful.

How can you tell? I've seen most pics with the linkage lever straight...and not "dog legged" like this one. Plus the Neutral switch seems to be higher up on this one, vs lower to the bottom of the column on others I've seen.

Trucks have the short splined shaft at the end like yours does...

here's another pic of the arm the attaches to the transmission linkage. Is this correct for a 72 pu?

After looking at the pictured shift arm that one originally came out of a motor home, but should fit, mount and function fine in your truck. I can not make out were the neutral safety/back up light switch is on that one but a lot of the time those short splined shaft motor home columns have two locations to mount the switch, you want to use the lower slot closest to the firewall otherwise the switch can interfere with mounting column into the dash.

You just posted some better pics, that type of lower mounting plate/floor seal is the one used in motor home applications.

So...no modifications needed? If so, I would be pretty happy. The neutral switch is up near the middle of the column (below the masking tape in picture). Would I still be able to mount the switch there...or would I need to cut a "rectangle" near the base?

You will have to relocate Switch lower.Here is a pic of a genuine truck tilt.
