Nice day for a drive... pics

Friday was a holiday for me (wife had to work, kid's in school). Didn't know how to act.... so I started by tinkering on the '71 in the morning. Hooked up an A/F ratio gauge to help dial in the EFI and fixed an exhaust leak at the driver side collector. Decided to take it for a little spin. I live in the foothills west of Denver at about 8000'. If I head due west for about 20 miles, it's a climb of about another 4000'. The EFI ran flawlessly even at 12,000'. The weather was absolutely spectacular so I couldn't resist taking a few shameless poser pics. Thought I'd share with the group.

Re: Nice day for a drive... pics

Squaw Pass road I presume? Looks like Echo Lake. Geez, I miss being up there.

Love seeing pictures of your truck. I'm jealous...of both the truck and the scenery.

Re: Nice day for a drive... pics

Thanks, all.

Frenchblue,

Kremmling is about 100 miles northwest of here but I do drive through there often on the way to Steamboat.

Mike,

I was hoping you would pick up on this thread... yup, the last picture was taken at Echo Lake, still frozen solid. It really was a gorgeous day and surprisingly few people around. Driving over Squaw Pass was really a blast. As soon as they clear the road to Mt. Evans I'll get some more pics from the summit.

Nice, did you make any A/F adjustments after your gauge install?

I love it! The shots and the Blazer look great. What can you tell me about your lift/tire combo? I really like the stance and am having a hard time making a decision.

Re: Nice day for a drive... pics

I hooked up with a guy from Colorado Springs this past weekend, and he mentioned the drive through that pass, but I didn't think you'd still have snow (we do but the mountain is 14k/ft) I hope to get mine together and driving it soon, the pict makes me wish it was now!!

I'm using a low-buck Edelbrock A/F ratio gauge. It's a simple unit with seven LEDs that you read kind of like a bar graph. To be honest, right now I think it was a real waste of money. When I make adjustments to the mapping I can hear and feel the difference before the gauge gives any indication. I'm thinking I should have held out for a $$$ wide band setup. Live and learn. It works enough to tell me I'm in the right range, but the control module (Edelbrock MPFI) tells me that much anyway. I think I did richen it up in a few spots though based on feedback from the guage.
