Look at this Gem in Portland, OR

Looks pretty solid (from what I can see) and stock. It would make for a great resto or conversion to 2wd.

A strange question.......why convert to a 2wd? do they have more value or are they more sought after, was there less made?.....just curious, i hear that alot.

Re: Look at this Gem in Portland, OR

Everyone wants a 2wd (me included) but there were very few made. The total number of blazers produced from 69-72 was less than 80,000 (not including Jimmys). My understanding is that about 10% were 2wd. Factor in how many have met their demise in one way or another (rust, wreck, bad modifications, parted out, etc) and the quantity left makes for slim pickings.

If your going to slam it or do heavy modifications, why not start with a solid 4wd, convert it and save yourself some money and the stress of finding a solid 2wd.

Brian, I'd love to. But the baby is due in less than a month. Jen is going to be off work for 4 months, most without pay I've been doing extra freelance work at home on the weekends and evenings just so we can survive that period. Once Jen goes back to work, daycare will be $2,200 per month. OUCH! I'm going to have to start selling organs to pay the bills.

Re: Look at this Gem in Portland, OR

hmm, to me even though they are harder to come by, nothing beats the appearance of the 4x4. but thats just my opinion.

Re: Look at this Gem in Portland, OR

D@mn it I should have gotten at least $10k out of my low production # 1969 4X4 with factory AC!! As it was I only got, well that's not important, but I wish I had known it was that low of a production #.

Re: Look at this Gem in Portland, OR

That truck was at the big Portland Swap meet two weekends ago - very nice truck - I looked at it pretty long & hard - there was also a nice one that was lifted for about the same price - both could have been had for around $5K.

Bouncy - you are in the same boat I'm in - we just had our second kid - and we are trying to keep the wife at home - the extra $$ just got quite a bit smaller! Ouch!

Wow! Only 77K 4x4s out there? I wonder how many of the first gen blazers are still out there. Makes me want to save a couple more.
