Installed tilt column today.
Not a big job. But I now have a smooth shifting column. The original column's upper bearing was shot. I had pulled a tilt column out of a truck about 4 years ago. I sold the truck and kept the tilt column. The column had been painted blue. I'm so lazy, it's taken me 4 years to get around to painting it black. Painted it last weekend and installed it this afternoon. What a difference. Now I don't have to use two hands to put it gear. The old column would bind so bad when shifting into park I had to use one hand to hold the collar on the column and the other to shift it into park. It's a spray can job, It's not great but the column shifts like a new one.

Hey looks great. Was that an original truck column or a converted van column.

Re: Installed tilt column today.
It was a factory 71 chevy truck tilt column. Make the swap a piece of cake.

Re: Installed tilt column today.
The steering wheel is from a late 70's Buick Skyhawk (Does any one remember them?) I replaced the original Buick horn button with the chevy horn button. I bought two of them in San Diego, California back in 1990 for $15.00 each at Ecology Auto Salvage. There are a bunch of auto wrecking yards down on the border.

Re: Installed tilt column today.
Looks good. I love the tilt in my truck. I have a tilt stashed for either the trazer or the blazer, I haven't decided which.

Re: Installed tilt column today.
I have a factory tach dash to install now. I bought a 72 4x4 Suburban in 1996 it was a 4spd with factory tach. I drove it until 2000 and sold it . But before I did I removed it to use in a later project. Well its going on 6 years I guess it time to install it in the blazer. I bought the Blazer in Oct of 2000. As you can see I don't get in a rush to get things done. That's just another way of saying how lazy I am. I'm not that lazy but it is hard to work on a gravel driveway because your 2 car garage is so full of junk you can't work in it. When we move there will be a workshop to work in.
