Rear Discs For '88-'98?

There have been a few inquiries as to whether I plan to make a rear disc brake kit for the '88-'98 rear differential. So I thought I'd start this thread to see just how many of you would be interested in a conversion for these differentials. And if so which one would you be interested in, the Impala SS, the Camaro calipers, or the D52's with Astro rotors?

So post your thoughts here, and I'll see about putting something together for you guys if there is enough interest.

If you're not familar with what I currently offer, click on the links in my sig to see each of them.

Re: Rear Discs For '88-'98?

i say try making a rear disc for these trucks using the same caliper they have up front. Keep in mind not sure but they may change from year 2 year because i know they changed the frame a little

OK, I'll make a note of that. I don't think there are any e-brake calipers of that style though. Do you know of any?

Are you converting to 5 lug, or are you staying with 6 lugs? What size are your front rotors?

No not everyone does. But in some states you need one to pass vehicle inspections. I use mine in the vehicles that have a manual trans.

Re: Rear Discs For '88-'98?

I have been wanting to put discs on the back of my '90 for a while now, so this would be great. I need something with a parking brake though and 12" or larger would be awesome.

Re: Rear Discs For '88-'98?

Well yes and no. There seems to be more interest in the 6 lug rear discs, so that is what I'm currently working on. I'm getting close to being done on those, so the '88-'98's are next. I'll need to find a differential to work with though.

Sorry, but I haven't developed anything yet for the '88-'98 rear differentials.

Re: Rear Discs For '88-'98?

Yes they are different than the '80-'87 8.5 10 bolts. Plus the brake offset is wider on the '88-'98 differentials.
