Re: What are you buying next?

OMG the list is too long. I have 2 projects going on at once (not a good idea).
The '78Z update and '68 update. The best thing about doing projects like this...is the new tools you get to buy yourself because they are needed for the project! I've wanted a sawzall for years, and needed a replacement power screwdriver for the one I've had for years and even replaced the batteries in (and gave up on)...I got them both the other day along with some rope, electrical tape, a vise, storage container, etc.

The '78 Z28:
I just picked up my rebuilt rearend for the Z28 on Friday.
Ordering soon: (maybe tonight-keep putting off)
rear leafs
rear leaf install kit (new hardware - ubolts, tbolts, shackles, bushings, jnuts, etc)
rear shocks
rear brake hard lines to the M/C, rear dist. block, etc. (have the Russell 3pc S.S. hose kit)
subframe bushings
front coils
front shocks
a hodgepodge of various front end bushings, ball joints, though some is done
complete front seat foam (drivers side)
several interior pieces and panels
new carpet (a few years ago some dumbass put loop pile carpet in a car that's supposed to have cut pile)
valve seals and valve cover gaskets
A/C hoses and compressor

The '68 GMC:
Once I get the 350/350, front discs plus related hardware, and rear coils plus related hardware out of the '72... and installed in the '68...then I'll be ordering parts for the '68 (besides whatever wiring, grade8 nuts and bolts, etc. I need to complete the swap). The '68 will get:

cowl induction hood
front grill
front bumper
drivers fender
wheels and tires (TTII)
And I'm sure there will be more. I'd like to upgrade to a split bench with center armrest (or even buckets w/console), but the current seat is too good to pull out and matches the door panels.

...and... after I have everything done on each, and the remains of the '72 along with the parts pulled from the '68 are all distributed to needy enthusiasts everywhere...and I either hit the lotto or someone offers me some amount of money that I can't turn down for my Z...then the '68 GMC gets the carbed LSX engine I've veen dreaming of. I'll probably start with a relatively small bore and stroke, taking time to get the good heads and stuff...before finally having the money to take the little small block on out to say... 454ci? One of the big choices will be either using GMPP's intake and spark control to fire the coil packs...or the Edelbrock/MSD combo.

here's LSX #001 in Reggie's Camaro (with coil packs hidden behind carb)

Re: What are you buying next?

Boy........Im going to get in trouble on this one!!!!!

I have been VERY disapointed in GM since the start of the Vortec but I have trudged through a bunch of them. They lost my "new car" business when they stopped making a 5.7 but I have continued to buy 99 and below second hand vehicles. After many brake boosters, intake gaskests, door hinge pins, crappy leather, power lock actuators, leaking power steering lines, bad tranny cooler lines, and numerous AC problems I finally threw in the towell!!!!!

OK........sit down.....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!

This was last weeks purchase.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290097997402

I am so sorry!!!!!!!

Dont worry though.....there are still 20+ pre 1994 GM's around here.

Rear disks!! Woo hoo, not sure what is next after that, but wheels and tires, exhaust, a windshield and some assembly and I will be able to actually drive the damn thing!

Re: What are you buying next?

i had a line on a 48 fleetline, but it looks like that dried up.

as for my truck? well, i have all of the big parts for my bag setup, and i'm startin' the tear down this weekend. So, the only parts on my short list are misc items to get the bags, compressor, valves, spindles, notch and blocks installed. As with any project, it's the small crap that you forget, and spend the afternoon running around town looking for.
