ring gear deflection bushing
I was being dumb putting brakes on my truck last night and insted of pulling my fill plug on my eaton, I took out my deflection bushing. How do I set it correctly.

My book says to hand tighten til contact is made with the ring gear, then back it off 1/12 of a turn and tighten the lock nut.

It is a brass plug in some rear ends to keep the ring gear from deflecting under load. I had one on my 66 C50

I have a 1972 chevy cheyenne super4x4 3/4 ton with the Eaton corporate rear end
