lets see some consoles

looking for ideas for building a center console for my k20. i put buckets in it and it is a 4x4 so the front will be lower to the floor to accomodate the shifter, but i was hoping to mount 1 possibly 2 12" subs in the console as well.... but i deffinatly need something i can use as an armrest...

any thoughts or pics would be appreciated

Re: lets see some consoles

No help on the console itself, but if you get a pair of 86-91 (I think) suburban bucket seats they have built-in fold down armrests right on the seat itself.

Rather utilitarian, but my mantra has always been "It's not a show truck." Gets the job done of filling in between my Eagle buckets, though.

I built it to fit a cheap plastic tool box with the lid and hinges removed.

In production:

The flat area above / to the right of the shifters is for auxilary switches, etc. I also mounted a secondary fuse box inside for any add-on circuits instead of splicing into the main one. It's accessed by simply removing the toolbox.

Not much other than another angle of the last shot above. I didn't own a digital camera back then, so I don't have alot of build pics.

Aux. fuse box and cross-plate that the toolbox sits on.

Re: lets see some consoles

food for thought i had an aftermarket set of seats in my long gone 86 which had a large speaker in the back of the center seat which folded down so that I had an armrest with a large speaker in it.. I dont have any pics of it tho

Re: lets see some consoles

I might give this one a try but not sure.Wish I could build one that would double as a seat for a small child for that odd time when seating for 3 is needed http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/interior/console.htm

I was thinking about building one like the link above I just wish the dimensions for the sub box were there as well... Might have to build a console then fit the box to match lol

Ive been thinking about doing something like that. How much does it intrude space with three in, or having the lady sitting next to you?

Re: lets see some consoles

I'm going to have to modify the bracket I built again for my seats to move them a little farther from the doors for more room, I never thought about using the frame from a bench and mountin my buckets on that, that would be much easier... But it would be a shame to tear apart the bench I have it is still in great shape... Time to go to the scrap yard.... Or buy some angle iron... Hmmm

Typically they are for running a doubler (basically 2 transfer cases)....or to switch the front and rear to low range separately.

Re: lets see some consoles

I have two on my one transfercase, I got rid of the stupid setup that cane with the truck for a t-case shifter because it would gum up and stop working so I now have one shifter for 2wd-4wd and one for hi-n-lo instead of the 4hi-2hi-n-2lo-4lo

Re: lets see some consoles

It's a box I built for my car a couple years ago, and there is a 10" kenwood in it, I believe the box it 6"at the top8" bottom and 38" long... It only sits behind the passenger seat now

I have a nice bassworks box for behind a truck seat but it doesn't let me put the seat all the way back, with 2 10"jbl subs, so ibhave it wired in to my stereo in the house run by a Sony deck lol,

I have 2 12" pioneer subs that I want to use in my truck
