I live in eastern nc and it normally doesnt get to cold in the winter. im looking at smoothing out the firewall in my 68 when i convert it to the 396 i found a golf cart heater with an out put of 1300 watts runs on 12v. has an adjustable thermostat and fan control so my question is what do you guys think of just running electric heat its a whole lot cheeper then the under dash conversion kit.

I would guess it should be enough.However a Golf Cart has lots of amps(several batteries) to draw from.1300 watts is determined as volts X amps so you will multiply 12 volts X 118 to get 1296 watts.

I doubt your alternator is up to the task.The other thing is that I'm assuming that in your area you really only need defrosters.Ducting may take up a lot of room.If you're planning on AC then most aftermarket AC kits can be ordered with heat/defrost.

that looks like a really nice unit but i wanna clean up under the hood and would like to delete the heater hoses its such a pain to try and make them look neat and clean. and for the electric heater i thought of that a little i was planning on running a diesel battery for the heater and a separate battery for the actual vehicle but i didn't think about the alt. i could always get the 180amp alt. but the alt would be working hard hmmmm.
