Random Acts of Kindness

Hey all,

I left Wichita, KS Monday to go see some family in Joplin, MO. During my stay, my truck decided to blow a tranny oil cooling line while I was giving my grand father a ride in my truck.

We happened to stop in front of this tractor supply / repair business. Those people were very kind and selfless. When I approached them asking for a new hose, they also offered up a heavy duty car jack, any tool I needed, and a big handful of shop rags.

It was an easy, yet lengthy, fix as I had to replace about 5 quarts of oil after replacing the cooling line. I am uncertain if the exhaust header was the cause, but the hose itself was split. Almost the same kind of condition rubber has when it is dried out.

Anyways, those folk at that shop were very kind and a memory I won't soon forget.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness

I used to drive semi's, so I know all about preventative maintenance. This one caught me by surprise.

Re: Random Acts of Kindness

being in service and recovery and doing pmcs on a vehicle at first ticked me off cause im a welder not a mechanic in the army but can fix it if i had too but choose not too cause we have plenty of them to fix those the vehicles and the vehicles in the army stay more in the shop than they do on line. I cant figure out how the heck a vehicle tears up and it barely goes anywhere and they dont really get drove hardcore.

hey buddy.. real life is nothing like the PMCS schooling you went to..

you cant allways predict whats going to happen. and the commentary is non conductive to what this guys is posting.

Hey that's cool you got that help from that store. typically you get told to go away. That was really awesome if them.

please.. realise that you are surrounded by veterans who are still more experienced then you. Being lower enlisted does not give you the ability to think you are allways correct. Also, do not assume everyone is an idiot. That is something the military taught all of us to do, and to succeed in life you need to UNLEARN that. There is not a single person who appreciates the commentary "well i allllways do it right and it's your fault for missing it blah blah blah".. save that crap for privates not people.

rant/off

Glad to hear you were able to receive help when in the time of need. It's nice to see that there are still some genuine people out there.

And as a reminder... keep your posts positive and to the point. This is a thread dedicated to the help received by a fellow member and an opportunity for us to implement that into our own lives. Neighbors helping neighbors...

Cool Re: Random Acts of Kindness

Yes there are good people in this world. If we all would choose to be them we would have even more.
This thread was about a guy and his grandfather getting help why can't we not leave it at that?

jdheff1982,
glad you got the help you needed. Great to hear stories like this.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
