Post anti sway bars

I have a 78 Cheyenne 1/2 ton 2wd. Am wondering about the effectivness of after market anti sway bars. Also an inexpensive source for these. Am trying to eliminate body roll to some extent. Any ideas? Thanks alot.

You might consider changing ou the springs to a progressive rate performance spring and adding a factory sway bar from a junkyard. The progressive springs will still have a nice ride but as they compress they get stiffer so you don't have as much body roll in the corners.

I agree with the others. but also do not forget poly bushings, they can make a world of difference themselves. Aftermarket bars are all pretty good from what i know but they're notmuch different (except performance ones) than the stockers. i agree go find a nice one in a yard and buy some poly bushings. 30 bucks for a set of poly bushings at my local 4x4 shop . good luck

Sway bars do work. On lowered truck they can work against you too! I have trouble with big bumps and big pot holes. The front springs are shot but they will be replaced. I'm rebuilding the entire front end.

You should never use front springs to eliminate body roll. Some of the aftermarket bars like Addco are junk, or atleast the ones I got from my 69. If I were you I'd either get a 1-1/4" factory bar or buy a stock car style bar with splined ends and draft that on to your truck.

Swaybars

You might check under some Suburbans. I am considering this swap too. Have to take some measurements for the rear bar yet. I have been told to look at newer 454SS pickup rearbar, and possibly the Tahoes or S10 Extremes. Would have to fab up the frame mounts though. Keep us posted if you find anything.
