Post Fiberglass Cowl Hood

Just got a new quick fuel Carb installed on the chevy. When they installed the new carb they added a spacer. Because of this spacer the top of the air filter hits a cross member of my cowl hood. You can see from the pic its not the whole cross member just a portion. Should I modify the hood by cutting that portion to fit around the air filter? Or what other options do I have?

Re: Fiberglass Cowl Hood

I'd take that long neck off the base of the filter and run a typical drop base style, or even a level base would work fine, then you can fit a 4" filter in there easily with room to spare.

With the right base. A 14x6" with fit under a stock hood.

Or get a smaller diameter filter, it looks like you're due for one anyway
