Look what followed me home!

On a Sunday travel I spotted this 69 GMC shortbed in a farm field close to my home 2 weeks ago. It seems shortbeds around Minnesota are few and far between so I went back the next day to talk to the owner. Typical small town older couple invited me in before they knew what I was even there. They said they would talk to their son about it and let me know. Last Sunday they called me back and said I could have it for $300. No time to think about this I hooked on the trailer and hauled it home. Its far from perfect but well worth the money in my mind. I was in the middle of a frame off on one of these then I bought a 65 Impala last fall that became my new love. The Impala is done well enough so I plan on doing a budget resto on this GMC before starting back on my 70. I will try to do another build thread on this one. The GMC has a 6cyl 3 speed. I already yanked that out and cleaned up the engine bay. I am putting in a 350 sb and auto trans that I took out of the Impala.

The box is decent and the frame is good above the coils in the back. The floors and doors are pretty tough. This should be a fun resto. This should be a pretty easy resto. No frame off on this one its gonna be a cheap one.

Re: Look what followed me home!

$300 and the protecto plate is in it? I'd swap all the 70 frame off stuff to this one as it is a better documented truck? BTW for anything East of the Miss River, that is nice!! I'da drove it with the 6 and cleaned up the brakes, susp tires, etc and driven the wheels off of it, 6's get decent mpg and look too cool under the hood!
