Do I need this pink wire on the solenoid?
I think I already know the answer to this, and is probably a dumb question but...
I converted over to HEI today and instead of running a new 12 gauge wire, I used the one off of the carb solenoid.. what does that solenoid do? I am going to hook it back up, but it sure seemed to run just fine without it.

I would suggest not using the wire to the solenoid as it is probably part of an emissions system. The supporting wiring and relays are not designed to carry an HEI distributor.
A 12 gage wire to supply a full 12 volts to the HEI distributor is a much better way to go. Jim

Thanks for the reply but it is a 12 gauge wire that is plugegd directly into the "unfused ignition" post on the fuse box.
regardless, I am going to tap off of it and reconnect it. I need to tap off of it because there is only one terminal in the fuse block for switched ignition.

Read the FAQ by "shifty" it's very detailed(even gives the part # for the terminal) and it will show the way to replace the resistor wire and make it look factory.It's for a 6 but the same for any 12 volt.
