cowl hoods?
i wanna get a cowl hood but im not sure of what height or if i should get fiberglass or steel. i really think the 4'' would look good but i wish they had a 3'' it would be perfict. is there any dissadvantage to the glass hood? they sell the heavy duty version at www.usbody.com as well as light weight. ill put pics on to give you an idea if it matters it will be a 67/68 hood. thanks -kyle

IMO 4" is too high. I have a 2" and the lines really blend well on the 67 68's.

I agree.....3" would be the max cowl height idealy on one of these trucks. I have seen a 4" cowl hood on a '70 Chevy, and it looked boxy and out of place with the smooth lines of the rest of the truck.
On the 'glass hood, the only real disadvangate is that is dosen't have the structual streght of steel, but on a item like a hood that dosen't have any structal importance, it isn't needed. The hood will be lighter, and it won't be prone to getting small dents from things like hail falling on it. However, if it hit hard, fiberglass will break instead of crumpling like metal. If you can afford it, i would go with the 'glass hood

i have an extra hood and i was thinking of making it into a cowl hood, how hard or easy do you thing it would be, i was thinking just cut to lines into it bend the front of it up and back and then weld sides on to it , would this work.
