Want to see a Corvair thread?
I've been toying with a real pile (seriously) of a Corvair. I tell people it keeps me off the streets. LOL. Started out thinking Rust-Oleum rebuild. Super cheap fun and flip. Well it has gotten out of hand, like projects do. Day 1.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
Id like to see a build thread. I picked up a non running 65 convertible several years ago and shoved it in the barn. I doubt Ill ever do anything with it. Ive considered putting it up for sale but Corvair prices are still pretty low so its almost not worth bothering with. When my little shop opens up again, probably next summer, I might drag it home if I still have it. Sure takes up less room than one of our trucks. It will make my shop seem large =)

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
OK you talked me into it. Now if I can organize my pictures. It has been fun and frustrating all at the same time. I tell people Corvairs are not Chevys! Everything has been a learning experience. (which is a good thing?)

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
boring 110 HP with a PG. Ran good but little did I know. CG, is yours a 140? 4 speed? That is the desired combo.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
Some during shots....And yes it'll be worth way less than what I have in it. Such is life. LOL
Not sure why the wonky photos. The Camaro valance was out of my pay grade. Good idea, have since seen it done on another LM Corvair.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
Those 65-69 Corvairs are very good looking and they fixed the supposed suspension problems. Even better when you put a V8 in the back seat.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
I think mine is the boring 110 with powerglide. The automatic is what I was looking for. After I got it I read a lot about putting Corvairs on a G-body chassis, seems to be a very good fit. I started looking for a G-body but stopped myself haha. Ill just watch your build and be happy with that =)

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
Iphone pics taken in "landscape" mode will appear sideways on this site. I always go into photos on the phone, edit, rotate the pic to the right 90 degrees, save it, open the pic again, edit, rotate back the other direction 90 degrees (original orientation), save that, and then upload it. It will then appear in the correct orientation. Also, you can only upload them one at a time if taken with an iphone for some reason.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
I'm struggling with posting pics. Keeps going sideways. I'll figure it out.
. It's currently at the body shop getting Acapulco blue (Ford) paint. My engine is getting machine work done and it will need bored, which as many know they are individual cylinders. I am not reinventing the wheel with this rebuild. Just a durable runner is all I want. The cam is a step above stock so it should be a 111HP instead of the factory 110. Front suspension is done and rear is 90% done. I'll flood this thread with pics once I can find an 8 year old to show me how to edit photos! For now here is a club event pic (that isn't sideways) The club Presidents car.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
I nearly always post pics Ive taken using my Iphone. I turn it landscape with the "button" on my right side to take the pic. Then I go to a thread I want to start or answer. I go advanced, manage attachments and choose file. It gives me five of those chose file buttons. I chose the picture I want and hit upload. I can do it four more times before I choose close this window and then I hit submit reply. I never have weird security token I seem to read about here. And never have the other complaint that they can only post one picture at a time. Maybe its easier on an Iphone I have no idea.
Now on to your Corvair. I tried to find an engine builder around here and couldnt find anyone. I contacted the national Corvair club local chapter. I talked to a fella that sounded like he was around 300 years old. He said my best bet was to pick up a low mileage Corvair and use the engine out of it. Not very good advice in my opinion haha. I have two other auto/truck related projects I need to deal with before ever thinking about my Corvair.

Our club meeting is pretty gray! I'm one of the young ones @ 60! One of my Tucson Corvair buds is VP of Corsa.. I'll do some digging. There is a guy in BC that knows his stuff but that could be a can of worms. Portland use to have a number of Corvair businesses. I'll post here or PM you.

Re: Want to see a Corvair thread?
look no emblems!I got a replacement engine lid (hard not saying trunk) it was a 140 HP lid. so I filled the holes and removed the Corvair badge F & R. A bunch of people these days have no idea what it is. A fellow member convinced a couple young girls that his 66 was a Ferrari. LOL
