Its been awhile since I have been here and I am ready to update my gauges in my 72 super. I swear there was a whole thread on this subject with pics of peoples instrument clusters and all the info on it. I have tried the search and have not found the info I need. What I need is to know the sizes for the guages, particularly the small one (oil press, temp and volts). Thanks in advance for the help.

5" for the big ones, 3 3/4" for the middle one, and 2 5/8" for the small ones. The catalogs will say the middle one is 3 3/8", but on the guage box itself it is 3 3/4".

do you have to remove the printed circuit board for those to work? What about the turn signals and bright indicator? I am also interested in switching mine up. I know I will keep an oil pressure and water temp gauges. But I can't decide on the other 2. I think I need the volts one for my altenator. What about a vacuum guage? I don't really know what a vacuum guage would tell me though, I just seen one advertised as a "stock replacement" for that one on the right next to the column.

The Speedometer and Tachometer ar 5" in dash units. The 4 gauges in the bottom are 2-5/8" and the gauge in the center between the tach, and speedo is a 3-3/8"
The 3-3/8" one is discontinued from Autometer, The ones on the shelves are all there is.. Those are Phantoms. (White faced) they have no blackfaced 3-3/8" left...
I'm doing the same thing right now, only putting the gauges behind the bezel like this.
Yes you will have to remove the metal from the area behind the gauges in either case,

I need a Black faced 3-3/8' gauge,

does anybody sell premade dashes with autometer guages? Maybe with a selection of what you want and where you want it? Electronics confuse the sh** out of me. I can tear a motor down to the bare block and put it back together again in one day, in the dark, but I can't do electrical stuff to save my life.
anybody out there want to fab one for me? let me know how much and I will save up for it.
I want a behind the bezel one like Ron Woodgear's.
I want speedo in top left, tach in top right, fuel (3 3/8) in top center, bottom row in order, volts, water temp, vacuum, oil pressure.
I would prefer the water temp and oil pressure to be of the mechanical kind.
Would prefer black faced, would take grey though. I'll put it in the dash, just include a small diagram of what goes where.

toddtheodd, they are really simple to hook up. I am by no means an electrical genius, and it was probably one of the simplest jobs I have done. I used some LEDs for the turn signal/bright/brake lights. The dash Ron posted took a lot of work to make as I understand. The guy took off the bezels and fabbed a mount for them somehow. They do look awesome, with the chrome bezel.
There are premade ones out there, but they cost a lot...some do look good though.
If you make your own, shoot Mudder67 and Yukon Jack a PM- they were very helpful to me when I was making mine.

There are no 3-3/8" gauges available from Autometer any longer.. Let me rephrase,, They are making no more!!! They have a few On the shelf of the Phantom series, When they are sold the 3-3/8" line has been obsoleted.... (Look at my post and the email sent me from Autometer at "My Old Truck.Com) Summit Racing has a few Fuel Pressure Gauges on the Shelf in the Sport Comp Series, Black face.

You Do Not have to remove the Gauge Bezels, The gauges are attached to the Metal backing that the factory wiring mounts on, and the Factory gauges bolt to. If you look at "Thor50's" dash that I posted, you can see the gauge bezels Silver color between the glass and the factory chromed bezel.. The Gauge Glass becomes the protective glass ( as it is) for the gauge. The factory plastic is not used...
When I first seen Thors, Dash, ( A couple of years ago) I emailed him and he gave me a run down on their install, He didn't do pictures..(Too Bad) I have been playing with an old dash set up to get the install straight before I tear my new bezel up, ( actually there is No Tearing or altering of the factory bezel or the Autometer bezels what so ever)
I have posted on the for sale and wanted to buy area, here, and at My Old Truck.com That I want a 3-3/8" Fuel level, oil pressure, water temp, or clock, in black. If I don't find one, I may just go with Javy's Billet dash.

I had also talked with Thor50 about how he did his. From what I got, he attached the guages to another plate shaped like the bezel. He mounted that plate to the dash then mounted the bezel over it.

Where did you get your gauges???? I need one !!!!!!

I have contacted, Summit,Jegs,Napa,Auto Zone,JC Whitney, Autometer themselves,A few E-bay Stores, Even had a friend In Puerto Rico checked his local stores. I'm just not hip, on putting a fuel Pressure in there,, ( I just bought the 2-5/8" one,, It's not here yet even)
I'm hoping to find one Old Stock, or in good used condition.

If I can find the 3-3/8", I'll do a picture summary of how I'm doing it.

I bought all mine locally at a speed shop..cost a bit more, but I like buying from someone I know. My 3 3/8" is the oil pressure guage #5505.
What kind of guage are you looking for in the 3 3/8" size? I could go ask the shop if they have a supplier that has some still. Let's just say that they have "connections" to many people, lol.

I just called Summit with part numbers for all the 3 3/8 guages and they are no longer avaiable from the vender. And they don't have anymore in stock. Thats for the pro comps........

I have tried all over.. even checked Auto Zone locally yesterday when I picked up a Tranny gasket, just to be sure...

I would love Javy's but I could buy a few gauges for the cost of the dash and glovebox door.. But If this gauge comes through, I won't need to buy the billet..

I do need a 2-5/8" black faced sport comp fuel gauge still though.....
