Boy, that's unusual. Makes me wonder of UHaul used these trucks back in the day for the cabs to their moving trucks?

Isn't that always the way? Moving this over to the heavy hauler area. If you get some pics, post them there. They love pics..

All the ones I remember and see now from that era are Fords. Doesn't mean there weren't any GM's though. The ones that are still around all seem to still be orange too.

I believe the company was National or Nationwide that used green 69/70 Chevy C/30s. Back when these trucks were made, before this era of only the biggest fish survives, there were several truck rental companies:

Re: wish i had my camera or phone today

Tim, it was National as you have mentioned. The whole name was actually National Car Rental, even though they also rented trucks. A friend of mine was hauling lumber at the time and his regular truck was in the shop. They gave him a '70 GMC 9500 with a 6-71 and a 10-Speed RR trans to use and I thought it was strange to see this big GMC Diesel with the name "Car Rental" on the door.

I actually got to drive that one and it was one nice truck. It was nice to get behind a diesel in one as my 9500 had a 637 V-8 gas (unique maybe, but I much preferred the diesel).
