Stalls under acceleration

Yesterday I was on my way home and got into the throttle a little (just enough to rattle the pipes) and it fell on it's face and killed. Started right back up and did it again. The third time it didn't kill but backfired (thru the carb?). It's a 305 with a mild cam, Edlebrock intake, RQJ carb, HEI diz with the vacuum advance hooked up to carb. Only thing I had time to check was the vac. adv. diaphram where I sucked on the hose and it held vacuum. Going to tear into it tomorrow and could use some ideas in advance. Thanx.

Re: Stalls under acceleration

Check and see if the dizzy is loose. Might be a timing issue backfiring and such. There was a similar link to the same problem about a week ago on the board. Search it out and see if that helps. I believe he tightened the bolt after checking the timing and it took care of the problem. Hope that helps.

Re: Stalls under acceleration

Fuel filter was crunched and replaced it with high hopes. Took it down the road and after a mile or so just killed outright...no spark. Found the pick-up coil bad and some other diz issues so ordered a rebuilt. Should work.
