Headlight adjustment ? Washer and nut?

Has anyone ever used a washer and nut instead of those plastic pieces of crap? I've got 2 different sets that thread for aminute then the screws pull right out. I'm thinking big washer and a nylock nut. Anyone give me a good reason not?

Re: Headlight adjustment ? Washer and nut?

I've had good luck with the cheap, plastic pieces, as long as the headlight bucket is freed up and will move. They're plenty to hold and adjust, just not to pull a stuck bucket into position.

Off my soapbox, I have used a long screw with a couple nuts and flat washers to span the old hole. (in my younger days, my crumpled square had a long sheetrock screw drilled into the core support for "adjustment")

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.
