Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

well got the interior wiring harness layout finished today and quite happy with it. The new fuel injection wiring will be able to plug directly into the factory harness to provide power tach and speedo now .

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

ok some more pictures of the interior where the harness is going got the harness in and tenatively routed atm. now just got to take another few hours to get the center section of wiring the right length for the neutral safety and eletric seat wiring the right length now then I get to strip everything back out for august when it runs up the road to the painter in whiteright texas. I am going to take the cab to him first so he can work on it while I finish the littler details on the frame. Looking at ways of lifting the cab off by myself with my engine crane just got to figure the right angles and chain lengths to lift it levelly then set it on a rolling frame work I happen to have the whels and the 2x6's for .

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

yeah once the cab is in the body shop and going to concentrate on the frame finishings. I have a set of 67-72 dual master cylinder brake lines to put into place from a long bed series and get them straightened away plus an adjustable prop valve and do the lines on the rear axle for the new disc brakes .

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

well being short of cash decided to start working on other areas of the truck that will need attention here very soon from the welders and bodyshops guys . I found that I am issing the inner wheel well brace on the driverside so am going to have to salvage one off another truck unless yall know where I can find a repop by any chance? My brother has a coouple of shortwide beds in his yard I may drop over and see what I can grab for mine. It is definistely going to need the outer well patched in several areas from the damage I found will check out one of the metal shops here in dallas and see what he can come up with to fix her side up again. Got my oak wood stained and ready to go in the carboard shipping boxes you see in one of the pictures. Got em stained cherry with a furniture restoration place in wylie . then nag rhino line of denton for a clear rhino lined bed coating to show off the pretty wood and chrome while protecting my investments.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

I might have one if my 65 is close enough to work. I'm not going to use that bed (wrecked passenger side), besides he likes the long stepper. If you want to pull it yourself, you can have it. Be going to Decater meet this weekend, but call 8172049235. Hell if you want the whole bed, take it, it'll get me closer to getting his truck done. Now thats a deal. By the way, yours is still cool!

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

Ok been doing a little more work on wiring in mean time while working for more money lol. Will be picking up the bed side tommorrow afternoon in venus tx from a board member . Got some pics of the gauge wiring and the engine harness is just about finished waiting on some wiring terminals to finish the fuel injection wiring section I am working into the harness for the speed shop in euless to mesh into and make it look as factory as possible .

Sean
this first set of pictures is the gauge harness wiring I am working on looking at using a turn signal connector to allow for quick disconnects from the main harness.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

This next set of pictures is the engine harness that I am nearing completion on I have to add 4 more wires into the feul injection section of this harness and it will be completed and ready for the euless speed shop. I talked to Arvil at XHP Solutions there in euless he can build a harness for my engine for about 750$ with tap shift included and a tow haul button as well .

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

Welp got the gauge wiring completed and the new connector in place now. Going to take a day or two and look at some other things to tear into. Will be working on the bed some more on friday evening getting the old rotted plywood out of the floor area and getting it ready to lift off the truck
I included some pics of the gauge harness connector. I left the speedo programming wire and ground seperate out of the harness since they will be quick disconnects in line on them . I used a gm tunr signal connector the 4 1/4 inch one and works great so far will tell more when the harness is in place and powered up

Good work, are those trans. hard to adjust the shift linkages? Newest I ever mess with is 700r4. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

naah they are almost the same as the 700r4 same number of stops actually. The 700 lever fit that trans perfectly without any problems just had to space it to clear the casing. Will have some more pics up next saturday when I get the 2wd tail shaft housing in hand and in place thinking I may have to trim the ribs on it but will know more when I have the part in my hand and get it in place.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

Ok the big week is coming soon another 40 hours of wiring work in the future. I orde3red direct from GM parts direct a 2009 cadillac l92/l9h harness for my truck. Once I get it in hand I will be taking pictures as I do the conversion to standalone and put them on here and my website. I also orders the fuseblock and relay modules for this engine as well so should have them soon also.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

ok more progress got the oil pressure sensor in place and the water temp sensor done as well. pictures to follow
Waiting on gm parts direct for my harness at this time, will be picking up the 6l80 tailshaft saturday after my gear head meeting with pickups n panels.
Sean

the oil pressure gauge uses a 1/8 inch 27 thread pipe tap to get it into place. worked out beautifully. will be reassembling it and checking for leaks this weekend. I have oil splashed on that side of the cylinder block with no clear spot of origin so will be checking things there carefully.

here is the water temp sensor. it takes the same tap as the oil pressure on the gauge package I bought from TPI gauges.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

ok gto the tailhousing in and was fiddling with it tonight amongst working on the brakes think I need to trim the mount bracket because it is at a slight angle right now not that that bothers me any I like quirky things in vehicles in the right places lol.

Take an eyeball,

Sean

Nice work, I'd like to come out one day and check that out, maybe learn something smart. My skills involve only one kind of computer, HEI, very little TBI, The rest stumps me alot. Keep up the good work, and good pics.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

yeah give me a shout I am usually off on saturdays so it would be a good time to catch me. I am taking the brake rotors back to the machinist so he can machine the sapcer bushing a bit more to get them where they slided on the studs better there is not enough play in them atm to make up for heat expansion during braking so we are going to fix that.
