CST = "custom sport truck"

Re: what makes a truck a cst

One of the things that a CST truck has is the stainless trim around the windshield and back window. I think something with the lower body trim is different also.

This link answers a lot of questions:

Re: what makes a truck a cst

depending on what year this CST is, will dicate what it has on it.
The CST is the top of the line option package, but in all reality, all it really is, is chrome, some bright stainless, and nicer pieces inside like carpet and vinal door panels/headliner, and a better lookin seat.
It doesn't mean jack as far as the actual mechanics of the truck.

Right, the CST package was the highest trim group. It gave you what you would have ordered seperately on a base truck. As well as some trim not available on lower trim groups. The Cheyenne and Cheyenne Supers were a rename for the 71/72 high trim group.

Re: what makes a truck a cst

question, if I have a truck that used to have the eyebrow molding (deleted in smoothing out the body lines) , and the lower body trim, would that make it a CST? just curious

Re: what makes a truck a cst

the upper trim was not part of the CST.
The lower trim was, but was avalible seperately. The lower trim would have woodgrain stickers in it on a CST, but the base trucks with just ioptional trim would have black in it.

alrighty thank you, unfortunately all of the trim that was on this truck is now gone, and the glovebox door was replaced , I think it would be high end truck though, it was a small block/th350 truck with factory a/c and tach and gauge dash. and if you look at the roof from inside the cab you can see some holes that were not filled well, so I'll keep my hopes up on it being a CST.

Thanks again

Re: what makes a truck a cst

Every CST/cheyenne I have had apart had the Z84 written in chalk on the front of the bed between the cab and bed... I *THINK* I've also seen Z84 on the firewall in chalk, but I can not remember.
remember, if it is a mid 69 or newer, CST/Cheyenne is the ONLY way it would have a headliner in it... and the chrome trim included a bunch of holes too.

Re: what makes a truck a cst

dukes 69...One thing to note. If this is a 1970 model then it will be a little more unusual because of the options:"small block/th350 truck with factory a/c and tach and gauge dash." I believe in 1970 GM had a strike and fewer trucks were built that year. So with the CST option plus the other options this might be a truck worth fixing up as long as it is not to far gone. I might be wrong but it is an idea. Good Luck.
