1/2 ton into 3/4 ton?

We have a71 4x4 half ton that we've driven since '85. It is time for a rebuild, and we've just begun the tear down. We will be replacing the springs, ppossibly putting a mild (2 1/2") lift on it. Does anyone know if 3/4 ton springs will bolt in? I'd like to increase the carrying capacity if possible. Thanks.

The 3/4 ton springs will interchange with the 1/2 ton 4x4's.

Take note that the springs are not the only thing that have bearing on your trucks load capacity. Heavier trucks also have full floating axles, bigger brakes and I believe thicker frame matrial to handle the extra load safely. Hate to see you destroy your rear diff, break an axle and have your rear wheel pass you going down the highway or not be able to stop as quick as you thought you could??

OK, I'll shut up now...

I want to install the front and rear diffs. (along with auto trans. and TC) from a '73 3/4 ton 4x4 donor pickup into my '68 1/2 ton 4x4 suburban. It currently has a 3 on the tree and 307(to be replaced with markVI 454). Can anyone forsee any problems?
