Re: my new pink box!

Congratulations on the boxes! I had looked at them myself but just don't want to spend the $$ at this point. Maybe you could find someone to add a little pin-striping for accent.

You have a good son there!

Thanks for the welcome! I'm guessing there aren't a lot of us around here...

The very first vehicle that I got to drive at 15 was my father's white 72 blazer. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for one. I'm starting a restoration on one and my daughter has already laid claim to it. My son wants it but he already has a 66 Mustang, so the Blazer is hers.

Pics, Pics, Pics, Pics, Pics Please...
If I don't say that, all the guys will throw this at you...

I mean pics of a Blazer & the boys mean pics of, um... a Blazer driver

There's probably quite a few gals but, I suspect, many just are wandering
through or don't post. Or perhaps, do what I did the first few years,
they simply hide their gender.
Liz would be the one to give us an idea of how many gals there really are.
We do have a group called the Busted Knuckle Babes
Sixteen members and counting....

It would be super cool if you and dishow can join us there!

Oh, BTW; in lieu of pink paint, can I hot glue fake flowers to my tool box?

You honestly would be amazed at how many there are. Many just don't say so due to the man pig mentality of some. (no offence to our lovable men pigs.. )

OK! Here's the Blazer. Needs LOTS of work...but some day it will be nice.

I'll head over to Busted Knuckles and do a proper introduction over there....

Yup! Our guys are VERY lovable men-pigs!
I see that the rude Man-pigs usually don't last too long here...or they shut up.
My big brother's take care of their sorry arzz's in record time and I love their looking after me and the other gals (we're gear-heads too!).

Since I've been here, I feel like I've got hundreds of brothers looking out for me and me for them. Many true friends no matter the miles.

ok...dang. Where's the "group-hug" smilie gone to?

Gender is like age. It's a very shallow thing to judge by.I love the fact that there are getting to be more women gearheads. As to being a man-pig,doesn't everyone like BACON!!!

I agree about age and gender being irrelevant in this hobby. There just aren't a lot of us around.

Sometimes I do get the "Here's what you need little lady," attitude at the auto parts store, but I've not had any acceptance issues because I'm a girl. When the guys find out I have a good basic understanding of mechanics and that I'm always willing to jump in and help, the skepticism fades away. The fact that I know how to weld pretty well always gets me bonus points. :-)

So..... do you have a sister? For informational purposes only. I swear!

I was planning on teaching my daughter how to weld this summer, but plans changed and she is now more interested in planning a wedding. Bummer.

It’s been my experience that Lady parts persons are the most helpful, not always but most of the time.

Unless I have been in the store before and built a relationship w/an employee I will usually choose a lady before a man in most of the newer AP stores.

There is NAPA store not far from where I live (~20mi), in the middle of large warehousing center with allot of major truck line repair shops. There is a parts lady who works the counter and she is good, her reputation is known throughout the area for knowing her Stuff.

PS> I was a counter person in 1971 & 1972 selling speed /custom parts, so I do have some understanding of good service

I can also recall a little Lady( girl probably 19yrs & 100 lbs) who came in to buy parts from me, she drove and was working hard to restore a 1950 1-ton panel truck: about the size of a school bus
