I have found that the best way for me to learn how to do things is to just do them!

Congrats on your work so far and I wish you a safe, speedy, and successful completion.

Re: Shop is comming along...

Thanks for the comments yall!! Got the rest of the framing done today, also got the lower portion of the front closed in and my walk in door cut out. I had a great helper today, lol. He earned 3.00 just keeping us in ice water, it was hot, then it rained and got really humid too. Hoping to get my roll up door assembled this weekend. Then working on getting siding. Getting closer....... Paws, I don't know about that..lol... My Papa and construction mentor is out of town for a couple weeks, so my instruction comes from texting and phone calls and me sending him pics for inspection. Only made one semi major mess up today, easily fixed, but frustrating. I am definitely learning as I go.

More pics tomorrow mabey..
xoxo

Re: Shop is comming along...

Looks great. Can't really tell by the picture but it looks like you are carrying the "header" on a couple of blocks. Make sure that you put some "jack" studs(one each under each end of that header) to carry the weight down to your slab. obviously will make the opening 3" smaller... 1 1/2" for thickness of each Jack. Just my .02

Re: Shop is comming along...

I think it's great that you're learning to do this kind of work Jodie. I did construction for 4 years because of the rewarding feeling of looking at what you built at the end of the day. This is the absolute best way to learn how to tackle big jobs, just do it and figure it out along the way. It'll be a cool little storage area for the Burb. I think your water boy has a future in building, he handles a saw like a pro

Re: Shop is comming along...

OMG, yall are funny, CG remind me to post some feet pics for you later...... Dubes, you are no stranger to girls doing un-feminine stuff, your wife is amazing! The saw that Thomas was "using" was unplugged, lol He is a great little helper. Paws.... whatcha trying to say darling? To be honest, I can believe that Im building it either. Though I give credit to my mentor and Papa, who is down south taking care of his mom for a while, he sends me direction and we communicate through text, calls and pics. And my amazing hubby who helps when I need it. I was so excited yesterday when I went to the little down home hardware store to get some stuff and just happened to ask the guy if he had any old or slightly damaged windows. He had a nice used double paned one for 50.00 (140.00 at Lowes). I absolutely cannot wait to get this done and get my truck in it. Today I learn to frame a window where I had already built a wall, lol More pics later, Thanks for your support yall.

xoxo

Re: Shop is comming along...

Another productive day. With the help of my amazing hubby, I got the door and both windows in. Tomorrow I will attempt to tackle the roll up garage door. Getting closer... Once I get the roll up door in and can lock it all up, I will park my truck inside, FINALLY!!
