Garage related: Wire shelving

Can you tell me about the wire-type shelving such as this:

http://www.uline.com/BL_3878/Adjusta...-Wire-Shelving

1) My first concern is that this appears to be a product in which it appears that a lot of companies are essentially selling the same thing.

This is similar to the quick-change rear axle----halibrand, winters, speedway engineering, tiger etc.
Also, cragar and weld wheels appear to be similar if not identical.

My point here is i want quality. i feel uline is industrial strength, but i would like to buy locally if possible----i.e., home depot etc.

2) How do the "S" connectors work. How does the modularity/build on thing work.

Actually, why don't you just tell me everything you know about wire shelving?

I have three of these and they have been priceless.

I don't know anything about the "S" connectors shown on the U-Line site though.

Re: Garage related: Wire shelving

Yeah, my BJ's has the same shelves as sam's in stock for about the same price. These appear to be good quality.

The reason why i was asking about the "S" connectors is because i think it allows you to link 2 or more shelves together and in this way you only need one set of uprights for both shelves. So, in other words, 2 uprights instead of 4. Makes for a cleaner installation. i plan on lining the wall with at least 4 units.

I noticed my local Lowe's had these on sale for $69 this past weekend ... maybe worth checking your local store.

Don't forget to stop at the post office on your way and ask for a moving packet. They have a 10% off coupon in it if you go this route.

I've had these for several years now and load heads, rear ends and all sorts of things on them. Get the wheel kit with it so you can roll it out of the way.

Re: Garage related: Wire shelving

I have a couple. They've been great for about 10 years.I don't use them in the garage though.I bought some solid shelf ones for there that seem to be plenty solid.I just wish I had gone with wire there also.It sure blows clean easier with the compressor.

Re: Garage related: Wire shelving

Where are more places to buy these types of shelves?

Specifically, individual shelves seperately, not the whole deal.
