i need some ideas for a gass door for my 68 swb

im using an aluminum 18gal rear frame mount tank

i would like it hidden or in the bed

would a flip up plate like the 69 camaros in my rolpan work for this setup or not ?

let me know what you think i should do (pics would help )

Here's mine. Search "fuel filler". Also, John Fabris has a good one in FAQ.

Hugger, That is the best fuel fill I have seen yet. Would you consider making one for my truck? If so how much money?

Here is what I'm doing. It will be a flush mount bed fill, simple easy and not very expensive.

I'm working on making a few, but I want to be sure that I can make them nice enough that you would actually want to pay money for them.

that is the door I have been imagining. What is your source for that setup and how tight is it for your hand to access cap?

You don't actually remove the cap to fill. If you look closely at the 2nd pic, you can see a ring in the middle of the cap. It is a sealed spring loaded flap, so you just push the nozzle through it, fill, then pull the nozzle back out. You never have to remove to cap. The cap also holds the piece that the fill hose clamp to in place. The door closes flush, and has a magnetic latch that you push on, and it pops out. Push the lid in and it lock into place.

I didn't realize that. I like it. I bet it would work well with a side marker light filler too.

I have been thinking about doing the floor flap too, but having it sit down inbetween the ribs rather than up on top. Either way I think it looks great.
