Idle speed control for 1970 gmc (Idle walking)

Hello, I am brand new to these boards and not all that knowledgable on trucks. I am currently having issues with the idle speed on my 1970 GMC 250 straight six. It is in the processes of being put back together and I just wondering about what hoses go where, as I am unsure. It is a rochester monojet Carb and I am aware of the mixture and idle screw, but they do not seem to be helping all that much. Any input would be greatly appreciated as I have run out of ideas.

Does it have an idle solenoid?

Disconnect the wire from the solenoid & set the idle speed to about 500 rpm. Just a slow roll using the hex to turn the solenoid . Hook up the wire. The plunger should come out & increase the speed. Adjust the idle speed to about 750 RPM using the hex set screw in the end of the solenoid . If the plunger does not come out with the key on check for current at the wire. If there is none you have a blown fuse or a fault somewhere in the circuit. If the wire is hot but the plunger does not come out the solenoid is bad.

I just found it strange as I was told that it worked fine before it was taken apart, I should not that the carb is not her original monojet that was on it and has been replaced, the new one has a manual choke instead of an automatic. Not sure if that would make a difference or not.
