Lights out !
On the way to work at 5:30 this morning my 1969 C-10 lost it's headlights . I hit the dimmer switch a couple times and they came back on . May have bumped the dimmer switch with my foot causing the lights to go out . What do y'all think ? I've a book somewhere , wonder how hard it is to change the dimmer switch ? THANKS !

Couple of phillips screws and a plug in. Sounds like that is the culprit...

that is a normal indication that dimmer switch is going bad// get new dimmer at autoparts store(very cheap) and inspect and clean the connections prior to hooking up new dimmer

I'd clean up the connections before throwing a new switch at it.
Those are pretty tough switches and the connection there is notorious for getting green and furry.

i agree with mrein3 that connection must be clean and also i believe it grounds on the cab floor and if it gets loose it will do the same thing

there is no ground on the switch, and I would blame the switch before the connection... but the connection is easy enough to check though.
Dirt cheap part too. |

THANKS for the good info . I did look up a new dimmer switch and it's less than ten bucks . Hope to change it out this weekend .

Installed a new $7 dimmer switch in my '69 C-10 today . Old switch wasn't green and furry but pretty rusty . I put a dab of dielectic grease on the conns . Hope my lights stay on in the morning . THANKS for all the replies .

They don't get salt on the roads, or even much snow on the roads in South Carolina. In Minnesota the terminals corrode from all that salt and slush.
