Traded for a good non cracked or pitted windshield a week ago. It looks origonal, but its in great shape. Turns out that its tinted. That green colored glass. Anyone have one?? Have anyproblems with it?? I havn't installed it yet, i'm not sure how it'll work on a daily driver.

They don't do much to keep the sun out.Maybe cut the glare a little.I had one in my 67.I don't recall any issues.

If you are looking to cut glare, go to a window tint shop and have them tint the top 4-5 inches of your windshield. Have it on my daily driver and it is a lot easier to keep the sun out of your eyes. But then again, here in the Pacific Northwest I won't have to worry about that until next year...

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience, well......that comes from bad judgment.

1968 Chevy C-10 "Longshot": Bought used from my Uncle George in 1994 and proceeding to beat the hell out of it for 4 years. Sold it. Bought it back, dumped an ungodly amount of money into it since then.

I know people that have been putting a layer of tint on the windshield before installing. It does a lot to take away the glare and light. Just don't go too dark.

I think its the same here in TX. the side can only be 30% and the back 70%.
Well i guess i'll goahead and get a new windsheild seal and get this thing installed.

He is talking about the factory green tinted glass not dark limo tinted film on the glass.

I'm going with the tinted green glass, I had to start collecting all the other green glass as well though. Not sure how it would look if you had a green windshield and clear vent, side and back glass.

you not SUPPOSED to tint the glass past the AS1 line on the windshield. I am not sure if our older trucks have this line but all the newer ones do.its in the top left corner.

Re: Tinted Windshield, good or bad, any experience??

yeah, i'm talking about factory green tinted glass. i have the side windows and now the windsheild. I think i might get rid of the side tints and just put black tint on the side and back.

This will be the first time i've had a green windsheild, i wasn't sure if it got on anyones nerves, kinda like wearing yellow tint glasses all day and when you get inside, the tv looks funny. lol. i think the country is in good shape if i'm worried about the TV looking funny after driving my old truck all day. LOL.

That isn't legal in this state. Only factory tint is allowed on windshields outside of a tinted band across the top.

If it is a factory tinted windshield you shouldn't have any issues with it except your eyes will love it on sunny days.

I've been swapping in tinted windows into my truck one piece of glass at a time as it only came with the tinted band on the windshield.
