How is the instrument cluster bezel removed safely, without damaging anything?

Let's see how quick I can answer this.

First remove the headlight switch knob by reaching up on top of the switch and pressing the button and pulling the handle out. Actually first you need to disconnect the battery to keep the headlights from running it down.

Remove the wiper knob.

To ensure u don't damage it, loosen the plate under the steering column and let it sag out of the way.

If you have a gage dash disconnect tubing.

Disconnect harness plug in.

Reach up and remove light bulbs from top (turn signal) area.

Remove screws and carefully lean the top of the bezel toward you and lift it out.

I think that is it. Hopefully I didn't leave anything out. The biggest thing is to be careful and don't do anything without checking it.

2 other things:

1. disconnect speedo cable
2. If auto, there is a fibre optic to indicator. Remove bulb fibre optic line is connect too (next to speedo)

HUH??? Remove the turn signal bulbs?! On mine, there is only one bulb that needs to come out (just to the right of the speedo if looking at it from the front).

The little button for the lights is on the top of the switch. The wiper knob is held on with a little flat head screw.
It makes things easier if you lower your steering column down a bit (just loosen the bolts). And disconnect your oil pressue gauge.

I was having problems with the knobs, and figured I might have to drop the steering column, but wasn't certain.

Might as well remove the thing, since it will be available soon. As for the battery...well there isn't one, so I have that handled!
