73-80 Hooks on 72 Frame?

Was asked this from a friend of mine who recently bought a project 72 4x4 long bed with tow hooks on the GB list. Naturally they are no longer there. A long term project and he knows finding original hooks will be pricey and asked about the 73-80 J style hooks as a stop gap? Have never seen anything that I can remember about their use on the earlier 69-72 frames. He mentioned the re-pop hooks and think I talked him out of wasting his $$ on them. Would never consider re-pops on any 4x4 I personally own.

Re: 73-80 Hooks on 72 Frame?

I use the square body hooks on my 67 frame. I just like them better. My 60-68 hooks are under the seat - prior pics.

Re: 73-80 Hooks on 72 Frame?

Those square body hooks look right at home on your '67. Any issues in getting them spotted against the frame/bumper area. My '71 K10 did not have hooks on it when I bought it. All it did have was a LOT of rust and dings, LOL. When I installed the '69-'72 hooks all I did was spot them to the frame horns with good clearance all around, marked the spot and drilled. Had to finish the 5/8'' holes with a grinding bit. Took a bit of grinding out to size but worked fine.
