Extended cab in East Texas

Saw this on Craigslist, might be a good deal:

If I had a little extra cash I'd be checking it out tomorrow! Those old extended cabs are just too cool.

Stock right down to the wheels, it's primary purpose is to haul cows.
It's secondary purpose is to provide me with many hours of fun and frustration.

I'm no authority, but I don't think the extended cab was a factory option for 1985; it might have been a coach company conversion...The body lines do match up pretty well, though...

A tired warrior of the 1980s in a world of low profile tires, front wheel drive, and plastic bumpers, where people stay in their houses until snowplows move the offending substance from their paths, too helpless to travel without AAA and chains and salt, clearing their windows with longhandled brushes while gently stepping around in the snow trying to stay nice and dry.

Re: Extended cab in East Texas

1988 was the first year for an optional Extended cab truck from GM. That is obviously also the first year for the newer "areo" body style truck also.

Re: Extended cab in East Texas

Judging by the rear window, I'd say it's a Custom Vehicles International conversion. A lot of this stuff is documented here:

Re: Extended cab in East Texas

Definately a CVI truck. They were not factory but rather sent off by dealerships, like the conversion vans and subs, and then sold with new warranty. CVI waranteed the body mods and upholstery while GM still waranteed the drivetrain. The body is the only thing modified, the chassis is a stock long bed frame.

Price wise is decent if the only thing wrong is the transmission, unless you think you can build your own for $1800 but Id make sure the ex cab part isnt rotting out
