Dying saddle blanket type seat cover

I have a 84 stepside that i have completely blacked out the interior, but the seat is still stock tan, i was wondering if i bought the black saddle blanket seat cover that is actually mostly gray just has black stripes and soaked it in rit dye to turn it black. Has anyone done this, or anyone see problems coming up with this? Thanks

Re: Dying saddle blanket type seat cover

The last saddle blanket seat cover I bought only made it a couple months before faded and literally (yes, literally) started disintegrating. Total waste of 35 bucks. On the other hand, dying it might help protect it. I actually had bought 2 covers last time, the other one is still new in the box and in good shape.
