Received my tuff country 3" lift. Do I need a steering correction drop?

Wanting to know what all the road blocks are and what to think about before i JUMP into putting the lift on.

I plan to replace the stock shocks anyway due to age with some bulstein 5100s

is there anything else that really needs done? extended brake lines? steering correction drop? any degree shims etc for driveline angles?

thanks for an advice

My experience has been that you don't really need the extended brakelines with a 4" lift unless you plan on a lot of wheel articulation. I wouldn't worry about the drivetrain drop unless it is a Blezer or shortbed truck at 4" (I know your is 3", just never used one). I would do the steering correction, though.

Generally you only need a raised steering arm with a 4" and above, but some lifts recommend a drop pitnam arm for 2-3" which is what I had on mine. (very easy to install). I would install the lift as is and see check your steering angles before buying anything else. Your brakelines should be fine as long as your swaybar stays connected (which prevents articulation).

heres a picture of mine at full droop after changing brake rotors and you can see the stock brake lines still have some length to give and arent tight. The kit may include some drop brackets for the brake lines iirc.

Re: Received my tuff country 3" lift. Do I need a steering correction drop?

Ok 10-4 on the pitman arm drop sound like its not 100% needed but a good idea. I will see how the angle is and go from there on that one.

you guys have any recommendations on shocks? I've always liked bilsteins but it doesn't look like I can get the 4600's in an extended one for the 3" lift I liked these on the past z71's I had.

and the 5100's I'm sure are great but to look at they're not going to show up...I like the offroad shocks to show up on a lifted truck.

on the wheels going with mickey thompson classic II's and yes I know everyone has them. Right now not sure on the tires I want something beefy looking but quiet. Thinking BFG all terriain KO, dick cepek FC-II, BFG KM2, toyo mt, nitto trail grappler. Those are some of the top ones that come to mind so if you have had these in the past please comment (i've had the bfg at's and the old km)

Get oil shocks, I had gas shocks and they were very stiff.

I like the mickey wheels alot, one of my favorites and I really like the DC FC-II tires, I think that would be a great all terrain and nice combination of wheels/tires
