Exhaust over tranny crossmember...

Well as we all know with certain long tubes the tranny crossmember gets in the way of routing the exhaust pipe straight back on the driver side of our trucks. Im finally getting around to running my exhaust and was wanting to know if something like the hedman x-tension would work for this problem? I know a muffler shop could make something up pretty easy but I was wanting to try and build my own exhaust.

This is the piping I was talking about: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-18806/
