I've seen them on other trucks. If you're chroming out the engine compartment they look nice. If it's the ONLY chrome under the hood, they'll look like a shiny turd in a punchbowl...

ha ha, well said. the only other shiny metal i have under the hood right now is a billet air cleaner and an edelbrock carb. my truck is meant to be a show truck, but im to poor for nice headers. i was thinking about getting these to clean it up a bit.

Hey, for the money you'd spend on those, you can get full length headers, my friend! Check out the Summit Racing brand of headers. I bought a pair for $79 about 4 years ago and they are GREAT! They're essentially Heddman headers with the Summit label on them.

I'd go that route before going with the chrome go-fasty kit. Good luck either way!

Unless you don't want to redo your exhaust, I'd go headers for looks and performance before these. Seems like they would hold in unnecessary heat. Will probably not look like this in one to two trips down the road either (heat cycles).

Re: Anybody ever used or ever see this?

Those are the ones! Funny paint story. The last set I bought probably 10 years ago, the paint FLAMED UP and burned off the first time I started it!

So, I got "smart" (cough, cough) this time. I wire brushed the paint off of one of them, which took forever, and painted it with this 1200° paint. That paint lasted abouta week and flaked off. The other paint lasted a few MONTHS and looked decent.

If you can spring for powder, that's of course the way to go. Otherwise, just deal with the "patina". They're actually just a nice ash grey now...

Re: Anybody ever used or ever see this?

I don't think powder-coating is the thing to use on exhaust headers. The stuff becomes liquid at about 400 degrees F, and I think I have read that you need something that can handle about 550 degrees F.

Re: Anybody ever used or ever see this?

I have a mildly built 350. In terms of your power steering, I have power steering too. You give them all that info when you call, they'll send you the correct headers (in theory). I had no problems with mine at all. They cleared the pump and the clutch linkage without a problem.

Now, remember, headers are always a little tight, but these fit well and don't hit ANYTHING. For less than $100, you can't go wrong.
