Brake line differences?

Hi Guys

Im in the process of installing a CPP 5 lug brake kit on my 67 SWB.

It was originally a drum/drum with manual brakes and im converting it to disc/disc with power brakes

The kit in question

2 problems, the fitting from the front caliper to the the steel lines is not even close to snug.

Pic:

The front pipe from caliper to the steel lines

2nd problem, the brake lines that go to the proportioning valve in the master cylinder are totally different sizes from the steel lines and the proportioning valve

Am i missing something in the kit or should i but new steel lines when switching from drum to disc?

Thanks

Re: Brake line differences?

That looks like a hose for a 1/4 line maybe for the rear? they may have boxed it wrong. Are both brake hoses that size?

Rear is done, i used the CPP 5 lug axles and bolted everything. The kit came with 2 hard lines that connected at the rear axle T and 2 rubber hoses which connected to the rear calipers

For the front, both rubber hoses from the caliper to the hard lines are like this

I was hoping someone would have had the same problem as me with a solution

The hose in question has a CPP part number BHK-R7 which according to CPP website is Brake Hose 7/16” - rubber, kit

Could it be that when upgrading from drum/drum to disc/disc using CPP kit, you will have to but their entire hard line kit?

Re: Brake line differences?

I just spoke to CPP, the tech guy said they sell adapters to fit the 7/16" ruber lines to the 1/4" hard lines or new lines with banjo bolts on the caliper side and 1/4" fitting on the other side however when i told him that the hard lines to the proportioning valve also don't fit, the tech guy said that i should have gotten the brake line kit to make everything fit

He recommended the original material over the stainless saying its easier to fit

This isn't CorvetteForum, don't be harsh :-) I think he was hoping it's a common issue someone has run into before.

There are actually a number of problems with parts that I've been around long enough to see come up over and over again, like the LMC GMC relay harness that's wired backwards. Easier to ask here than to go back to the vendor who will have no idea, even if it's a longshot....

Not to mention calling internationally which can get quite expensive with the amount of times you are put on hold!

So i guess im buying new front caliper brake lines and new front hard line kit from CPP to make everything fit
