winter down time

The events i run and post some videos of have been cancelled for the year so i decided to pull the motor . It has 394 passes on it in 2.5 years . Over half were nitrous passes . Anyway i pulled it out and pulled the pan as the pan is a specific peice of the Luv . The motor looked surprisingly good and is already in my 67 . Next year there will be no index races at the events i run . It will be all heads up . I will either be running Evil street ( drag radial again ) or a new proposed class extreme 8.5 ( close to the same rules as evil street , but on a 26 x 8.5 slick ) My little truck was built around the 26 x 8.5 and i have worn 2 sets out on it . I can fit up to a 29.5 x 10.50 on it , but i like the smaller tires . Anyway pics . New motor will be home soon !

Re: winter down time

Ahhhh, a smoking stroker Are you looking to drive it on the street a lot? Is that why the 210's? GREAT heads, I have 2 motors with them. (one overly tweeked set of rolled over 55cc, CNC monsters, and 1 set of RR's out of the box) Love them on the street. But with that much cu. in.,, I'd sure think about the 220's if you can tolerate the shaft rocker system to get the geometry straightened out. AFR is a FINE head, any way you slice it!

Re: winter down time

Dont know how much street use you get out of that LUV but some 18 degree's would be sick.

Re: winter down time

It doesn't get much street time anymore as that just leads to trouble . 18 degrees would be sweet , but then i can't run "budget" classes The classes i try to run are heads up , stock suspension , 23 degree heads , with some type of CI limit . I can't hang with the ten 5 guys or outlaw 10.5 guys . I just don't have the budget . I work shift work so a bracket program with points is out as i could only make half of the races . Index , same excuse , eccept more fun to me ( JMO) . Now it looks like im building a truck for a class that has been killed . I called a bunch of the guys and looks like we are gonna do some 6.60 jack pot races next year . So we'll see . Hoping to run that on motor and spray on grudge night .

Re: winter down time

That is one reason I cured the drag race itch, always someone with more money to come in and take it to ya! My brother worked over the local rich kids in dirt track racing in Beuamont/Houston a few years ago, but they finally out spent him and he couldn't afford to race Sat and fix the rest of the week to race again while buying all his own parts, tires, etc. I did it to some rich kids playing in Phx at Firebird on run what cha brung nights, but in an all out class, money usually wins. That 396 sounds super wicked, would love to see it run in person, when I get to Houston to hang out with me sister the next time I'll look you up, hopefully you'll have it together and the tracks will be a runnin" (this summer at the earliest).

Re: winter down time

Oh it won't be down that long . I am addicted to drag race . I got it bad when i was a kid and have never gotton rid of it . I had off years i bracket raced a Nissan pickup , but i don't think i'll ever get over it . The 396 is going to be neat . Look me up when you get down here for sure . I actually have a guy out of LA. that made me an offer i CANNOT refuse for it coming sunday to look at it . If this goes down i build something else . We will see . Haven't seen the money yet .
