just got blazer home and it's leaking

Just got my blazer home from Arizona and it does have a couple of leaks behind the front seats. The good news is the floor is completely rust free under the carpet. The preveous owner put silicone on the seal between the cab and top instead of a new seal. Is this typical in a k5? Here are some pics. Thanks all.

Eh, PO did that on my 79. Do you have any rust on the half cab?

Where the fiberglass top bolts to the back of the cab, you mentioned the PO used silicone there.

Oh ok, gotcha. No there is no rust. The po siliconed the outside of the cab/top moulding instead of replacing the seal and doing it right. I am assuming out in Arizona you can get away with that because they get so little rain.

10-4. Count yourself lucky, my 79 had silicone there too but has some rot on the mounting flange where the top bolts to the back of the cab. And of course all that sheetmetal is wavy, it'll be fun to replace.

When I got my 79,it had rubber goo wedged under the corners, prevented the top from dropping in right.
mine leaked at the light,so they sealed that across too.
fine now,if it rattles I don't hear it lol

Re: just got blazer home and it's leaking

Replace both seals and be happy. Mine were rotted away but still sealed pretty good. I only noticed a small damp spot when I got in after it rained, but not while I was driving.

The soft top I have now, doesn't leak
